Pre-trip excitement is building....

Less than 48 hours to go! Neither of us have been to Europe before so this is a pretty exciting trip for us.... Why Greece? One of the big reasons is that we have never heard of anyone being disappointed in going there. So much history,  a completely different culture, a warm climate after a long winter, and Nathene's Grandfather immigrated from Greece when he was 17 years old, sent to America by his family to get him away from war torn Greece back in 1905. He had to swear that he would never return, he had his children swear that they would never go back to Greece. We, on the other hand, and with all due respect, did not make that promise....
The trip is pretty open, at least for the last half. We arrive in Athens then go out to Aegina to adjust to the climate for a few days. Back into Athens where we have a car rented and will be going up to Nathene's grandfathers village on the side of Mt. Olympus. It is well away from the tourist areas so should be interesting, a good test for Nathene who has been studying Greek all winter.
On the way back we make a quick stop in Delphi then to the ferry in Athens. We head out to Antiparos, a small island off the beaten path when we booked an apartment for 17 nights. We can hang on the island, do day trips or longer to the other islands, or what ever....
At the end, a ferry ride back to Athens, overnight, and then start the long flight home. This trip has been about 6 months in the planning, never been there before,  so it will be interesting to see how well we did.
